Using Oatmeal

I was cruising around on the health forums the other day when I came across a post that was talking about the benefits of using oatmeal as a way to cure acne.  After a lot more research, I found that oatmeal is a great STEP in the fight against acne.  Now, I’ll be upfront in saying that making an oatmeal mask is not instantly going to solve your acne problems.  However, a big part in fighting acne is keeping oil under control and getting rid of things for bacteria to feed upon and oatmeal does this well.  It’s texture creates an exfoliating action on your skin that will delicately remove dead skin and other debris on your skin without flaring up your acne.  The oatmeal will also absorb any kind of oil on your face.
As with all natural remedies,  make sure the first time you try an oatmeal mask that you apply it to a small part of your face for allergic reactions.  The honey that is in the recipe is used to help form the mask, however a honey mask is also a very popular natural acne treatment and you can find out more about ways to clear acne using honey here!

Oatmeal Acne Remedy Recipe

Ingredients:

* Oatmeal – The cheap kind is great.  The less you spend on this objective the better.

* Water

* Honey – Used to give the oatmeal some “stick.”

Step by step instructions:

1. Combine 3/4 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup of watergetting rid of acne with oatmeal

2. Cook for a few minutes

3. Allow it to cool down

4. Put 1/4 cup of honey and mix well

5. Apply to your face, avoiding your eyes.  Although rare, if your eyes have a problem with oatmeal and honey, teabags will work fast to help.

6. Leave the mask on your face for 20 minutes

7. Wash off the mask with warm water

That’s all there is too it.  Would I add oatmeal to my ways to clear acne?  Yeah, I think so though I do prefer some of the other mask such as tree oil or baking soda.  I won’t lie the first time that I tried this one out it felt weird.  Not that all mask don’t feel weird but there’s something about the oatmeal that makes it feel as if its going to clump off at any time.  However, it really did help.  My skin felt a whole heck of a lot better and even had a nice shine to it.  Make sure that you wash off ALL the honey after you do this by really washing your face with warm water well and then pat drying.  You wouldn’t want a sticky situation with some ants or your dog.
